As part of our learning about Indigenous people, we recently zoomed in on the Blackfoot people. We rented a kit from Fort Calgary which provided us with some artifacts that students could explore. Here are the items that were in the kit. Please discuss the name and use with your child at home. *Click on pictures to enlarge them*

Our very observant students noticed that the items were all made of parts of an animal. We discussed how in the past, there was no access to stores where they can buy these items, and that the Blackfoot people, among other indigenous people, would use all parts of certain animals. We also learned that indigenous people use things from the land instead of man-made things like plastic.

Here are some pictures of us from last week.
Please ask your child what they were doing and what they learned.
